For those who love a bit of drama, this high-contrast dining room will surely set your heart aflutter. Its energetic mix of different elements make for a luxe look that is at once daring and refined. There is so much we love about this room!
The classic nature of a black-and-white palette translates across décor styles and offers a world of decorative possibilities. From minimalism to maximalism, this amenable combination can easily be made your own. Just add as many or few decorative pieces and pops of color as you like to suit your style or mood. In this dining room, the designer included only the most subtle touches of color to create an inviting transitional style.
Transitional furnishings and wood plank floors both in a satin ebony finish securely anchor the dining room. At the same time, wonderful white elements catch the eye and draw it upward from the soft ivory rug to the linen chair upholstery then to the marble fireplace surround, and finally to rest on the egg shell walls.
When it comes to dramatic contrast in this dining room, black-and-white has some keen competition. The room's decorative details and artistic accents couldn't be more opposite. For example, the industrial abstract art hangs in striking difference to the delicate whispers of grey veining in the marble fireplace surround. Then there is the mix of silver and gold metals adding another layer of polarization to design. Finally, symmetry in the placement of furniture and art give the room balance; however, a few offset elements on the mantel and buffets keep it interesting.
No matter how you choose to use contrast in your own dining room design, we are sure it will be just as swoon-worthy and dramatic as this one!
